About Me

I am in my 40's, and on a quest for better, healthier living -- for me and my family. I have lost 44 lbs and hope to lose more, but my blogging goal is not to gloat about what I have lost, or obsess about what I haven't. I will keep blogging about weight loss, but also plan to chat about other things that interest me; including, improving life for my son who has learning disabilities, the human brain, meditation, Zen and Buddhism and their application to healthy living, books I have read or have waiting on my shelf/Nook to read, what I want to be when I grow up .... basically Life, the Universe and Everything. I have a PhD but that doesn't mean I know more about life than anyone else. In fact it may mean I know less. I am interested in hearing from other people, especially those who also agree they don't know it all. Knowing it all is boring! Do I believe in magic? Not the kind in Harry Potter (although wouldn't that be awesome!), but I believe there is more to us, and this world, than we currently understand or accept, and we have the power to make our lives much more than ordinary.

Truthiness

I updated myfitnesspal stats to reflect my true current weight. Surprisingly, it was not that anxiety-provoking to up my weight by 10 pounds. When I first lost 40 lbs, I lost it the "right" way -- clean eating and working out. When I was down to 50 lbs lost, it was because of eating very little -- but very little junk. Yes, you can lose weight on wine and sugar. No, you should not! It was not sustainable, and so the weight returned. I am ready again to do it the right way.

always feels good to be honest...If you did it once, you can do it again.
